Today we will be working on 6.RP.3.c
Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100 (e.g., 30% of a
quantity means 30/100 times the quantity); solve problems involving
finding the whole, given a part and the percent. We will introduce and practice this standard in class. The students will have an IXL assignment of the following: Consumer math: Which is the better coupon? (Sixth grade - G.1) Consumer math: Unit prices: which is the better buy? (Sixth grade - G.2)
I will be giving the students a customary unit table with units involving length, weight, and capacity. They will want to get to know these units as best as possible.
We will be having a shortened class today due to the heat. We will continue to work with ratios, equivalent ratios, rates and unit rates. The class will be working on the following IXL standards:
